The northern loop was designed for visitor to discover Vietnam’s rugged north-west of Vietnam and variety of colourful ethnic minority group. Visitor will not only discover daily life, custom and tradition of ethnic minorities people, but also learn history of Vietnam by visiting Son La prison, historic battlefield of Dien Bien Phu where French was defeated in 1954 by the Vietminh lead by Ho Chi Minh.
After breakfast, we’ll depart Hanoi for Mai Chau. We will stop half of the way in Hoa Binh for refreshment before driving more 2 hours up to Mai Chau. Journey takes you through fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. Upon arrival of Mai Chau, we will have lunch in a traditional stilt house of the Thai people. In the afternoon, we will starting walking to the various ethnic minorities people in this area . Overnight in home stay of Thai people.
After breakfast, we say good byes with Thai people and drive to Son La . Son La is located in a scenic valley by Thai, Muong and Hmong minorities. This area is historically important for its involvement in the the Vietnamese struggle for independence from France during the first half the 20th century.
After breakfast, take a short visit to Son La prison – The prison was built by French colonialism in 1908. In 1930-1945, it was expanded and became the place where detained revolutionary soldiers. It was considered a steel prison and a hell on earth to stamp out strong struggle of prisoners. Cross over the Pha Din Pass before reaching Dien Bien Phu, the site of the decisive battle in Vietnam’s struggle for independence in 1954. Visit Hillary Hill, The French Colony General’s tuner and then see the whole Dien Bien Phu by visiting the museum. Overnight at hotel in Dien Bien city.
After breakfast in Dien Bien, drive via a nice road with Thai, Tay, Nung, and Hmong tribe along – experience their daily life en route. Stop in Paso – Phong Tho to have lunch, After lunch continue to drive to Tam Duong. Overnight in Tam Duong
We leave Tam Duong early to continue on to Sapa, arriving around lunch time. Ater lunch we have a free afternoon to explore sapa town: visit Cat cat villages of Hmong people and local market. Overnight in Sapa
Today, we will trek to Tavan villages of Zay people. This villages nestled in the valleys below sapa, we will meet some of the local minority people including Red Zao, Hmong and Zay .. In the afternoon, our vehicles will transfer you back to Sapa . Free and leisure until transfer to Lao cai to catch night train back to Ha noi.
Arrive in Hanoi early morning and our vehicle transfer to your hotel. End of services.
