PRE TRIP INFORMATION
When: Year round. Please note that between the months of August and March Sapa has dry (though sometimes cold) weather and is the best time to climb. Between April and July are the wettest months of the year and therefore it is advisable not to climb during these months.
Grade: Moderate
Accommodation: Standard tourist class but can be upgraded to the 4 star Victoria Hotel.
Transport: Soft sleeper class train. Can be upgraded to the Victoria Express pending availability and days of travel.
Spending Money: You would need to allow for additional sightseeing, shopping and drinks. As a rough guide allow US$ 20 per day.
Money Exchange: Most hotels are able to exchange US dollars into local currency.
Fitness Requirements: There are no specific fitness requirements, although clients with a history of heart or respiratory problems should not take part.
Laundry: Laundry facilities are available at the hotels for a nominal fee.
Visas: Visas are required to enter Vietnam for all nationalities. For further information on this contact our office.
What to take
You will be responsible for carrying your own luggage, therefore it is in your own interest to pack as lightly as possible. We suggest you keep your luggage weight down to a maximum of 12 kg with a reasonable daypack for the day treks. Comfortable walking boots are essential for the walks especially during the wettest months of the year.
Before you leave home complete the following checklist
• Lightweight and quick dry clothing is most appropriate for the summer months and warmer clothing for the winter months; sun hat.
• Comfortable walking boots for walks.
• Travel Documents: Passport, visa, Travel Insurance.
• Health requirements and travel insurance arranged.
• Flashlight/Torch, alarm clock, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, personal first aid kit, personal toiletries.
• Money: Us dollars or travelers cheques and/or credit card.
• Raincoat or umbrella (winter months only).
• Cable lock or padlock for luggage.

3 Hours Before Flight Time
Mt. Fansipan is highest peak (3,143 m) of Indochina Peninsula and it is considered as “ the Roof of Indochina”. No ropes or technical climbing skills are needed to conquer Fansipang, just endurance and plenty of energy. The night will be spent in tent with toilet tent provided. The trip offers you an opportunity to explore the beautiful nature and challenge yourself.
Transfer from your hotel to Hanoi Railway Station for the night train to Lao Cai. Overnight in AC soft sleeper cabin.
Upon arrival in Lao Cai around 5:30 AM, we drive the 35kms to beautiful and romantic Sapa town at 1600 m above sea level. The ride gives you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces and colour of ethnic minority people’s attires. Upon arrival in Sapa Town we have breakfast in local restaurant. Free time for the rest of the day to explore the town.
You are having a couple of interesting days waiting ahead. You travel by car toward the Silver Waterfall where you will be able to take a short walk to the waterfall. You will then drive further to Heaven Gate, the highest peak of roads in Vietnam. From there you can see Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina mountains as well as enjoy stunning views. The trek will be relatively soft until lunchtime. After a couple of hours of hiking, you will have a break at a nice spot in the forest and enjoy a good lunch. With new energy you start ascending as well as descending towards the campsite. En route you have many opportunities to enjoy the scenery and magnificent views to Sapa area and beautiful landscape of Lai Chau province. You will arrive to the campsite at 2900m ASL in the late afternoon. Now it is time to relax and enjoy a well prepared dinner.
Approx.: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 5 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.
After having breakfast, you climb to the top, where you can celebrate your victory. From there, you can enjoy the best view to beautiful sceneries. You will then start descending. You stop on the way at a nice spot for lunch. After lunch, you start the tough trek, which is all the way downhill through rainforest. This part requires a great concentration to step on steep trail until you meet the campsite at 2700m ASL. Here you spend another night in tent.
Approx.: Grade 3 of 5/ 8 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.
You wake up in the fresh and pure morning in wild nature, before heading back to civilization. You trek downhill through well protected forest and after a couple of hours of hiking, you stop for lunch. You will then continue descending toward Sin Chai village of Back Hmong minority. On the way you will be able to enjoy valley views and beautiful surrounding. You stop at the village for a while before you go by car back to Sapa, where you can celebrate your achievement and relax. From here we will return by road to Lao Cai for the overnight return train journey to Hanoi.
Approx: Grade 3 of 5/ 0,5 hour driving/ 4 hours walking/ 1 hour lunch.
Upon arrival at Ga Hanoi you will be transferred back to your hotel.
