Mekong delta is rice bowl of Vietnam. It produce three crops per year. Mekong is now tourist attraction in South of Vietnam. Cruising in Mekong delta and staying in home stay is best way to discover traditional life of Mekong people including custom, cultures, religion and history as well as how people produce rice in Vietnam.
Depart early in the morning. Upon arrival at My Tho, take a boat to Con Phung (Phoenix Island) at a Mekong River estuary. Stop at a garden restaurant for lunch. Then cruise along natural creeks and quiet villages in Ben Tre Province. Visit orchards, bee farms, taste natural honey, honey wine and tropical fruits, listen to local music, visit a distillery and a local coconut candy maker. Then move to Can Tho to have dinner and cultural exchange with a local family. Dinner and Home stay.
Early wake up for optional short biking or walking around the village and visiting fruit gardens. After breakfast, cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by rowing boat to visit the Cai Rang floating market (the nicest one with heaps of rowing boats). Stop at another village to visit a rice husking mill, and walk around the village. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Disembark at Ninh Kieu quay, visit an ancient house (in Binh Thuy, 10 km from Cantho) and Can Tho museum. Have lunch at a local restaurant on the way back to Sai Gon via My Tho.
